Definition: “On track” means your projected fair weight is close enough to target that class eligibility looks realistic under current ADG. ShowPen’s default: projected weight ≥ ~95% of target.
Worked example: Target 265 lb, projected 250 lb → slightly behind (about 94%). Target 265, projected 270 → on track / slightly hot. Use the flag as a conversation starter with your leader, not as veterinary advice.
If you are behind
- Review health, water, heat stress, bunk management, and feed quality before blaming genetics.
- Recompute required ADG: (target − current) ÷ days left.
- Increase measurement quality — bad scales create false emergencies.
If you are ahead early
- Over-finished animals can lose class flexibility.
- Adjust with your Ag teacher or club leader — do not invent crash diets alone.
